Michael Santucci appearance for NHCA at AES

Sensaphonics president and founder Michael Santucci will be helping to staff the National Hearing Conservation Association booth at the upcoming Audio Engineering Society (AES) convention in San Francisco, October 6-8. As vice chairman of the AES Technical Committee on Hearing and Hearing Loss Prevention, Michael helped form a new alliance between the NHCA and AES organizations.

AT the NHCA booth (#120), attendees can participate in a new listening study to learn more about the actual in-ear decibel levels people use for casual listening. Participants will be asked to choose a song from a menu list of popular music, insert earphones, then simply set the volume to their preferred listening level. The source material will be delivered through standard earphones that are specially equipped to permit taking an A-weighted SPL measurement within the ear canal. The data gathered will be aggregated into a study on mobile music listening habits being done by Brian Fligor along with Santucci and three other NHCA audiologists. Fligor is director of diagnostic audiology at Children's Hospital in Boston, an NHCA member, and a Sensaphonics Golden Circle audiologist.

Anyone attending AES is encouraged to stop by Booth 120 to participate in this brief yet important study.
