| Top Artists Make the Move to 3D Monitoring
Prince and Steven Tyler are among the early adopters of Sensaphonics
3D Active Ambient IEM system.
Sensaphonics has revealed the names of several leading artists who have made the move from conventional in-ear monitor (IEM) systems to the new 3D Active Ambient design. The Sensaphonics 3D incorporates microphones within custom-fit soft silicone earphones to allow users to hear ambient sound while performing, allowing musicians to hear the audience - and each other - while performing.
Headliners already adopting the new system include Steven Tyler of Aerosmith; Prince and his entire band; Ani DiFranco; Bela Fleck; and Vince Neil of Motley Crue. Musical directors have also shown an affinity for the 3D Active Ambient, including Chuck Leavell on The Rolling Stones "A Bigger Bang" tour and Jeff Quay of the Blue Man Group's Chicago troupe. Other touring artists making the switch to ambient ears include Darryl Jones of The Rolling Stones; LeRoi Moore of the Dave Matthews Band; Rob Eaton of Dark Star Orchestra; Ryan Ochsner of Lonestar; Jorge Hernandez Sr. of Los Tigres del Norte; and Richard On and Chris Culos of O.A.R.
"It's extremely gratifying to see the 3D Active Ambient being adopted by such demanding artists," said Michael Santucci, Sensaphonics founder and president. "We developed the 3D system to solve to problems inherent in sealed personal monitors, and judging by the feedback we're getting from these artists and their engineers, we've really hit the mark."
The 3D Active Ambient offers exceptional sound quality and ease of set-up and operation. A simple paddle switch on the bodypack lets the artist change from Perform mode to Full Ambient mode instantly, allowing natural conversation on stage without removing the earphones. The 3D is the only system to incorporate its microphones at the entry point to the ear canal, creating a true binaural system for accurate directionality of the ambient sound.
