| More artists adopt Sensaphonics 3D Active Ambient
Revolutionary ambient in-ear technology combines natural binaural ambience and monitor mix with full isolation.
The pro touring community continues its migration toward the 3D Active Ambient IEM System, the only in-ear system to successfully implement binaural miking within custom earphones. Sensaphonics Hearing Conservation, Inc. has released a representative listing of artists from all genres who have recently adopted the 3D's revolutionary technology.
Among the artists purchasing the 3D Active Ambient are R&B legend R. Kelly, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, hip-hop artist T-Pain, and pop sensations Boys Like Girls. Among more established artists, Sensaphonics has recently shipped 3D systems to Brooks & Dunn, Cyndi Lauper, The Cure, and Living Colour. Also of note is drummer Dennis Chambers, who recently became an early adopter of the new 3DHW, a standalone hardwired version of the 3D Active Ambient concept.
"We are thrilled to see so many great artists making the leap to active ambient technology," notes Sensaphonics founder and President Michael Santucci. "The 3D is the only in-ear system that lets them hear normally on stage with their earphones in, so it's no surprise that these are artists who do a lot of interaction on stage, both among the band and with the audience."
The 3D Active Ambient system uses embedded microphones within custom earphones to create a binaural listening system that is added to the normal in-ear mix in a small bodypack mixer, allowing the user to hear as much, or as little, ambient sound as desired. A simple toggle switch allows instant changes between Perform and Full Ambient mode. The Sensaphonics 3D is available in two versions: the 3DAA, designed to work alongside an existing wireless IEM system, and the new 3DHW, a standalone hardwired IEM system for drummers and keyboard players. Both systems use custom-fit ambient earphones made from soft-gel silicone, available in single- and dual-driver versions.
