“Working in an unregulated, high-volume environment, musicians are at high risk for hearing loss yet don’t know how to protect their hearing,” notes Dr. Santucci. “The Gold Circle Master Class helps audiologists address that issue by showing how to apply the principles of evidence-based audiology to the unique performance requirements of musicians on stage.”

Originally developed as a two-day seminar in Chicago, the Sensaphonics Gold Circle Master Class is the definitive industry standard for developing a successful music audiology practice. This new online course is certified by the American Academy of Audiology, and adheres to the AAA Best Practices Guidelines for Musicians. It features 16 chapters of streaming video running over four hours total, and includes a wealth of downloadable tools as well.

Successful completion requires viewing the full video presentation within 72 hours, passing a multiple-choice final exam, and demonstrating the ability to take earmold impressions to Sensaphonics standards. The Master Class earns 0.5 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for AAA members and also makes the audiologist eligible to join the Sensaphonics Gold Circle.

The Gold Circle Master Class is a comprehensive course, with Dr. Santucci covering the principles of evidence-based audiology through the lens of his decades of focus on the music industry and its unique hearing health needs – especially the challenges inherent in live performance. Topics include custom in-ear monitors (IEMs) and earplugs, clinical encounters, backstage etiquette, the basics of concert sound systems, and taking proper earmold impressions, among others.

“Over the years, we’ve trained well over one hundred Gold Circle audiologists in the principles behind effective music audiology,” notes Dr. Santucci. “This new Gold Circle Master Class delivers the same knowledge and insight in a more compact, convenient format.”

The cost of the Gold Circle Master Class is $750, and it is available exclusively to audiologists. For more information or to enroll, please visit www.sensaphonics.com/products/gold-circle-master-class.
